Anyone can multiply length by width. What sends people back to the store is everything around that number: cuts, breakage, roll widths, coverage rates, pitch multipliers. Our calculators are built around those realities — and every assumption is printed on the page, where you can argue with it.
Every result shows its maths and a worked example you can check with a pocket calculator.
Never buried in the number. You see the measured quantity and the buying quantity side by side.
Calculations run in your browser. Your measurements are never uploaded, stored or sold.
Fast pages, big tap targets, results that read at a glance on a phone standing in front of a shelf.
Quantities are half the question

Yes — every calculator, formula and cost guide on HomeMathLab is free, with no account and no sign-up. The site is supported by clearly labelled advertising that never sits inside a calculator's input flow.
Because real projects cut material to fit. A room's exact area is never the buying quantity: planks are trimmed, tiles break, concrete overruns the forms. Each calculator shows the waste percentage separately so you can see the measured quantity and the buying quantity — and change the allowance if your layout is simpler or more complex.
Every calculator publishes its formula and a worked example you can verify by hand, and the assumptions are stated on the page. Treat the result as a well-checked planning figure: for non-returnable or expensive materials, confirm with a second measurement and your supplier's coverage data before ordering.
The core measurement tools accept feet, inches and metres and return results in square feet, square yards and square metres side by side. Cluster calculators list both unit systems in their inputs wherever the trade uses both.
Alongside material quantities, most projects have a "what will this cost?" question. Our cost guides answer it project by project and state by state — 20 core projects across all 50 states — using the same published-methodology approach as the calculators.
Start with the square footage — every other calculator on this site builds on it.
